We want to hear from you!

We are working with health consumer representatives from around NSW to give feedback on telehealth (the use of phone or web video appointments with health care providers).

The Government introduced a temporary telemedicine scheme, to run between March and September 2020, enabling health professionals to treat patients virtually or over the phone.

The scheme saw GP and specialist appointments added to a list of Medicare-subsidised telehealth services, meaning doctors could charge Government for their time. (From https://www.abc.net.au/news/2020-06-19/telehealth-revolution-must-continue-regional-doctors/12360912)

For some telehealth has been fantastic, for others it has been difficult or impossible to access. We want to better understand what has worked, what could be improved and how all patients and families can be better supported by telehealth into the future. And while the federal Government considers whether to extend the scheme beyond September, this is an opportunity for Health Consumers NSW to bring NSW consumer voices together to contribute.
